JOINT INITIATIVE ON STRENGTHENING ROMA CIVIL SOCIETY IN THE WESTERN BALKANS AND TURKEY

The overall aim of the project, which has been implemented by the Zero Discrimination Association since 2016, is to develop and improve the dialogue between Roma civil society and local and national authorities. The project aims to improve the professional capacities of Roma NGOs, structuring their long-term strategic organisational planning, raising awareness for Roma inclusion and improving cooperation with local authorities to support structural change in local policies and to enable Roma NGOs to become effective policy makers. Within the scope of the project, capacity building trainings and sub-financing programmes are provided to Roma NGOs to strengthen their capacities.

THE MOST ROMA-FRIENDLY MAYOR CAMPAIGN

Zero Discrimination Association has been organising the Most Roma Friendly Mayor campaign since 2018 as part of the Joint Initiative on Strengthening Roma Civil Society in the Western Balkans and Turkey project. The aim of the campaign can be summarised as strengthening the relationship of local governments with Roma, making them aware of their problems, including Roma in the development of solutions to problems, paving the way for the development of non-discriminatory, feasible, holistic social policies, establishing relations with international platforms and taking part together in activities related to the social inclusion of Roma.
