Awards were distributed to women leaders

The Auditors of Democracy Association presented awards to 11 women, including Dr Serap Yazıcı

The Association of Democracy Supervisors gave the ‘Leading Women Award’ to 11 women who stand out with their achievements in the fields of politics, sports, business, academia, civil society and media on 8 March International Women's Day.

Nida Gökçe, President of the Association of Democracy Supervisors, made the opening speech at the award ceremony held at The Istanbul Edition Hotel. Gökçe said the following: ‘The women of our country fight the biggest struggle for individual rights and freedoms despite obstacles. We are giving this award to recognise and appreciate our women who are progressing on this challenging path and to publicise their exemplary lives. We hope that it will be an example especially for young people.’

At the ceremony where an exhibition of life stories and photographs of successful women was also opened, awards were presented to Rakel Dink, Prof. Dr. Şebnem Korur Fincancı, Prof. Dr. Serap Yazıcı, Lale Ünaldı, Ayşen Zamanpur,Elmas Arus, İpek Soylu, Lale Ünaldı, Nurten Öztürk, Sonay Dikkaya, Arzu Yıldız and Aysun Sökmen.

The exhibition consisting of life stories and photographs of leading women can be visited at the association building in Taksim throughout March.
