In 2012, the Zero Discrimination Association conducted the “Establishment of a Public-NGO Dialogue Group for Roma” project, involving 7 public institutions (Ministry of Family and Social Policies, Ministry of European Union Affairs, Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Health, and the General Directorate of the Turkish Employment Agency) and 34 Roma NGOs and 2 Federations (representing Roma, Dom, Lom, and Abdals) from different regions of Turkey.
In 2013, the second phase of the project, “Local Modeling of the Public-NGO Dialogue Project for Roma,” was carried out. The project aims to continue the Public-NGO Dialogue Group established at the central level and create a local model. Within the project, a study visit to Sweden on Best Practices for Roma was conducted from November 25-29, 2013, with the participation of public institution representatives and Roma NGO representatives.
During the study visit, visits were made to the Swedish Ministry of Labour, relevant public institutions, and civil society organizations. Additionally, a one-day seminar titled “Roma and Groups Living Like Roma in Turkey” was held.
The study visit, jointly organized by the Zero Discrimination Association and the Olof Palme International Center, was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, Ministry of European Union Affairs, Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Health, and İŞKUR, as well as Roma NGO representatives from four different groups (Roma, Dom, Lom, and Abdals) from various provinces of Turkey.
