We came together with academics and civil society representatives from Finland, England and France.

Within the scope of OUYE (Open University for Youth in Europe) Project organised by Zero Discrimination Association and Istanbul Yeditepe University, a series of activities were carried out in Istanbul for 5 days with academicians and civil society representatives from Finland, England and France. During the project, Zero Discrimination Association and Yeditepe University were visited as stakeholders.
The programme started at the Yeditepe University campus, where presentations were made by participants from Yeditepe University about their projects. Afterwards, the documentary ‘Buçuk’ was screened at the Istanbul Planning Agency and information about Roma and disadvantaged communities living in Turkey was shared.
İzzetpaşa Children's Home was visited and a storytelling workshop was organised for children by Dr Aylin Vartanyan. Afterwards, discussions were held on Roma children's access to education.
Fieldwork was carried out in Kuştepe Neighbourhood and impressions on disadvantaged and vulnerable groups were shared. An evaluation meeting was held at the Museum Gazhane in Kadıköy.
On the last day of the programme, an excursion was organised in Istanbul Galata, where the historical British Post Office is located, and a tour of Karaköy was made.
We believe that these activities are an important step towards improving the lives of disadvantaged groups. We would like to thank the participants from Finland, the UK and France, the stakeholders we worked with during the project and everyone who contributed.
