Elazığ Will Seek Solutions to the Problems of Romani People

The work on the Social Risk Map prepared by the Elazığ Governorate for disadvantaged groups has been accelerated. In this context, solutions will be sought for the problems of Romani citizens living in Elazığ under the leadership of Elazığ Governor Ömer Faruk KOÇAK.

Turkish Director of Romani origin Elmas ARUS, who conducts studies on the problems of Romani people in Turkey and around the world, will carry out a series of studies in order to support the Romani people living in Elazığ. Elazığ Governor Ömer Faruk KOÇAK, who hosted ARUS and his delegation in the governorate meeting hall, stated that they will support the studies targeting disadvantaged groups.

Governor KOÇAK held a press conference in the governorate meeting hall with director ARUS and his delegation, who came to Elazığ to support disadvantaged groups. Emphasizing the importance of ARUS's studies, Governor KOÇAK noted that these studies also reflect European countries.

Underlining that it is struggling to solve the problems of Romani people and all groups referred to as Gypsies, ARUS stated that the problems of disadvantaged groups in society can be solved more easily as a result of joint work to be carried out with public institutions and organizations.

Turkish director of Romani origin Elmas ARUS was awarded by the Council of Europe for her contributions to the living conditions of Romani people in Turkey and abroad. ARUS and the accompanying delegation will conduct some inspections in Elazığ on Tuesday, February 4.
