We hosted our esteemed lecturer Özgür Mumcu at Another Politics School.
Olof Palmes Internationella Center and ABF, our association has successfully conducted "Another Politics School" since 2017, where we hosted our esteemed lecturer Özgür Mumcu.
In the session themed "The Future Awaits Us," Özgür Mumcu addressed the rapidly changing economic and social structure of our time. In his speech, he touched upon the concept of "techno-feudalism," noting that large technology companies now position themselves as modern "feudal lords" in society, making individuals dependent on digital platforms. Mumcu highlighted that giants like Amazon limit users to mere access to infrastructure, drawing them into a digital "serf" status, and emphasized that classical capitalism is undergoing a transformation with this new order.
Özgür Mumcu expressed that social media and algorithms constantly control individuals with distracting content, turning it into a modern cognitive warfare method. He explained that individuals are increasingly losing their capacity to focus, weakening social memory and rendering individuals passive in this manipulative order.
The discussion platform formed by the participants' questions and contributions encouraged the exchange of ideas, allowing events to be examined from a broader perspective.
